No child left behind
Safety that fails closed
The checks that matter aren't reminders — they're gates. A run can't be finished while the numbers don't add up, and the driver confirms the bus is empty before they walk away.
Reconciliation gate
Boarded and alighted must match. If a child is unaccounted for, the run cannot be completed and the office is alerted at once.
End-of-run sweep
A mandatory walk-through check before a run closes — the last line of defence against a sleeping child on a quiet bus.
Works with no signal
The driver app keeps working out of coverage, saving every boarding and syncing the moment the bus is back in range.
Their data stays theirs
Privacy is structural, not a setting
The records here are children's names, dates of birth, photographs, home addresses, and which bus they boarded. Everything is built to keep them where they belong.
Each operator, walled off
Strict tenant isolation means one operator can never see another's children — enforced in the application and again at the database.
Only what the role needs
Sensitive fields — medical notes, home address — are shown only to staff whose role allows them, and every read of a child's record is logged.
No third parties, ever
No trackers, no analytics, no third-party maps or fonts. Nothing about where a child lives or travels leaves the platform.
Parents can see who looked
Families get a plain report of who in the company has seen their child's record, and when.
We track buses, not children
Tutela does not follow a child around. During a run we record where the bus is, so an operator can answer a parent's call, and we record that a child boarded and got off at their stop, so nobody is left behind. There is no location history of a child, and the bus's own trail is discarded within a day.

A serious fault takes the bus off the road automatically, and a run can't begin until the check is done and passed.

A driver whose Working With Children Check lapses can't be put on a run — the roster refuses it, no reminder required.
